This is not a sermon outline, doctrinal curriculum, or substitute for church leadership. Use it, change it, ignore it, or build your own discussion around the video.

Before you watch

Invite the group to write down one question they would want answered if they were investigating Jesus as a historical case rather than approaching the subject as a tradition.

Optional discussion prompts

  1. What kinds of evidence should count when evaluating a person from ancient history?
  2. Which claim about Jesus in the case file seemed strongest, and which one raised the most questions?
  3. Why does hostile or non-Christian testimony matter when investigating historical claims?
  4. What would have to be true for the resurrection claim to be historically meaningful rather than only symbolic?
  5. How does the reliability of the biblical record affect the investigation?
  6. What is the difference between examining evidence and demanding proof beyond any possible doubt?
  7. If Jesus is who the New Testament claims He is, what would that change personally?

One possible follow-up is to read John 20:24–31, 1 Corinthians 15:3–8, Luke 24:36–49, and Acts 2:22–36, then compare the claims in the text with the evidence discussed in the case file.

Optional follow-up

Invite each person to choose one claim from the case and research it independently during the week. At the next meeting, return with one supporting source, one objection, and one question still open.
